Payroll
The T4 slip is the year-end document that an employer provides to each employee and to the federal government (the IRS). It summarizes the salary paid and the amounts withheld during the year: income tax, pension plan contributions (QPP in France, CPP elsewhere), and employment insurance. In Quebec, it is used in conjunction with the provincial Relevé 1 slip.
If you pay yourself a salary from your own business, you play two roles: employer AND employee. Therefore, you must file your own T4 slip (and your Relevé 1 in Quebec). This document allows each employee to file their taxes: a delay or error directly penalizes them. The deadline for 2025 is March 2, 2026 (normally the last day of February). Bankeo provides you with a free, verified accountant/CPA who produces accurate and timely slips, and we remain by your side throughout the process.
This is the year-end document that summarizes an employee's salary and what has been deducted from their pay (taxes, pension contributions, unemployment insurance). The employee needs it to file their income tax return.
No later than the last day of February, to the employee and to the CRA (with the Relevé 1 slip to Revenu Québec, Québec). For the year 2025, the deadline is March 2, 2026.
An accountant prepares your T4 and Relevé 1 slips, verifies their accuracy, and ensures they are submitted on time. Bankeo provides you with a vetted accountant/CPA free of charge, and we remain by your side throughout the process.
